If it doesn't fit, it's coming back. And it's going to hurt the bottom line!
Returns are a huge expense for resellers and manufacturers alike. There will always be returns for random reasons, but DPI is working hard to eliminate returns caused by parts not fitting.
DPI starts with manufacturers' data, and through SPEEDCat, codes it for year/make/model/engine. Exceptions and notes are allowed in the product records to accommodate partial-year fitments, sub-models, etc. 95% accuracy is our goal. And the best part is that we have help pursuing that goal.
DPI is working with SEMA constantly to refine the data standard. After all, it's to the benefit of the entire industry to maximize customer satisfaction. And, of course, returns are costly, too.
SEMA's objective is to establish a data standard that eliminates - as much as possible - customer returns of products that don't fit. DPI is committed to refining this standard. And of course, DPI, through its directories and directory subscribers, distributes data that complies with this standard as widely as possible, in response to customer inquiries. We call this data "FitsRight."
